Sometimes simpler is better. I processed this image as a black and white because the sky was an ugly shade of gray in the color image. Gray skies in color images look horrible but a gray sky in a black and white image? Not a problem. Black and white also brought out the shade difference in some of the bricks.
Consider processing some of your images as black and whites.
