Nile Kinnick, Jr.: The Athlete

A varsity letter winner in football (1937-39), Nike Kinnick, Jr., was the cornerstone of the University of Iowa's legendary "Ironmen" team of 1939. Kinnick was awarded the Heisman Trophy and the Maxwell Trophy that year after leading the Hawkeyes to a 6-1-1 record. Kinnick's list of honors received included being named consensus all-American, most valuable player of the Big Ten Conference and the Associated Press Collegiate Athlete of the Year.
