This foreign beauty is the oldest of all of the Tall Ships to honor the Festival in 2010. Europa was built by the city of Hamburg as a lightship for the river Elbe in 1911. After coming out of retirement in 1994, Europa started a new life as a sail-training vessel. This is a unique ship that allows trainees to get the feel for running a barque. Aboard the ship trainees will learn to stand watch, steer the ship, set sails, scrub the deck as well as take their turn as lookout. The traditional seafaring skills will be taught on their excursions in the Netherlands and will be experience one will not forget.
