While waiting for the race to begin, I thought that it might be interesting to just get a shot of just part of the bikers - from the handlebars on down. A lot is going on in this frame and you see things here you normally would not focus on if the photo had the bikers full bodies in it. We are typically drawn to look at faces and by removing them from this photo, your eyes are more free to wander the frame and look more closely at the bikers legs, feet and bikes. Had I take a more "Normal Shot" you probably would not have noticed some of the cool bike shoes that you can see here.
This photo was cropped tightly to remove the rest of the bikers bodies from the frame. In photography, what you leave out of a picture can be just as important as what you leave in the picture.
