Taken before the D-1 woman's race. I used a wide aperture to focus on the subject and blur the background. This technique helps isolate the subject from everything else in the photograph.
In this case I chose this young woman as my subject because she was looking straight ahead and I liked the look of the bikers behind her and next to her. I thought she would stand out nicely.
I took lots of shots like this to increase my chances of getting a good one. Nothing is worse then taking a shot that you think is good only to find out when you view it later that it was not what you hoped for. Digital shots are free to take so take more then you think you need. That way you are more likely to get a really good shot.
