The Battle of Lake Erie was won in 1813 by Oliver Hazard Perry upon this great Tall Ship, Niagara. The historic War of 1812 history will never be forgotten as long as this valiant brig sails. The mission of the Niagara is to interpret the war history and to promote the common wealth of Pennsylvania and the Erie Region. The homeport of Erie, PA gives the brig many opportunities to visit many other Great Lakes ports throughout the summer months. The overnight sails are a one-of-a-kind experience for those on board. Trainees sleep in hammocks on a single deck that is converted to a mess hall up to three times a day.
